FAQ - Hints for using DAC Box USB
Q: Does the device support Windows 10?
A: The device is fully compatible with Windows 10. It may be necessary to reinstall latest drivers after updating from Windows 7/8/8.1 to Windows 10.
Q: Does a driver exist for the DAC Box USB?
A: You do not need a driver for Windows-, Mac OSX or Linux-Systems.
The driver is already integrated in the operating system.
Q: Is it possible to hear 24bit audio-files via USB input of DAC Box USB?
A: DAC Box USB is equipped with a 24bit/96kHz DAC processor, that makes it possible to
convert 24bit files into analogue, but only when using digital coax (RCA) and optical (Toslink) inputs. USB
input only is able to deal with 16bit files, because of technical restrictions in USB protocol. So if playback of
24bit audio files is needed, digital coax or Toslink inputs should be used!
Q: Why sometimes there is noise and/ or interrupts in playback of audio files via USB input of DAC Box USB?
A: DAC Box USB only is able to reproduce the signal which comes in. If USB input is used and
noise or interrupts can be heard, the main processorsuffers from capacity overload. Best remedy in this
case is to close all applications on the computer, which are not used at this time.
Q: Why no audio signal from an USB source is available on RCA-out of DAC Box USB, when USB cable is connected first and then the power adaptor is plugged into mains?
A: DAC Box USB should be connected first to mains and a few seconds later the USB cable can be connected to a PC. Doing the opposite way, synchronisation process is eventually faulty and no sound is availble via audio outputs.
Q: DAC Box USB will not be recognized by Mac OSX and is not available under Audio. What can I do?
A: Turn off your Computer and press at start alt+cmd+p+r until another starting sound appears. With this command the USB bus will be reset and the USB Box will be recognized new.
Q: DAC Box USB will not be recognized by Mac OSX (El Capitan) or does not output sound.
A: There are many forum reports about that issue. It is a widely spread error affecting a wide array of USB DACs, unfortunately there is no current fix for this problem, since it lies in the Core Audio of Apple's OSX. We advice not to use our USB DACs with OSX El Capitan.
